The painting depicts a British Columbia coastal landscape with characteristic Carr elements: towering, stylized evergreen trees with distinctive peaked tops rising against a vibrant blue sky rendered with vertical brushstrokes suggesting rain or atmospheric movement. Golden sunlight bathes a serene beach, with gentle waves lapping at the shore under a dramatic sky. People stroll along the sand, enjoying the tranquil evening atmosphere.

Some of my favorite ways to daydream about the beach are remembering early morning wave-watching with a cup of coffee in my hands and my bare toes in the still-cool sand. Another is sitting under an umbrella on a sunny day with a good book in my lap. But one of the best is an evening stroll, watching the way the light lights up the sky.
