did you know i can make low poly things too
6 green and 8 blue equilateral polyhedra tiled face to face. The cross-section of the green units are octagons, and of the blue units hexagons.

Yesterday I finally found some time and motivation to work on my tavern asset set again... nothing worth sharing yet.
Meanwhile I discovered a very old render of mine. I remember this was like the first scene I had an Idea about what I wanted to express, set it up and was happy with the results. Still remember how I turned this historical map of #paris into a #3D object and used UV mapping for the first time correctly 😁
I find it still holds up today.

Working on a little experiment, trying to convert a Batman artwork by the skilled Max Grecke to 3D as faithfully as possible.
Instead of focusing on modeling, as I usually do, I'm putting the emphasis on transferring the texture, which takes a lot of work in Blender Texture Paint.

I’ve had a productive couple of days …
the #Atmos height channels are all now actually up in the air, and it makes a *huge* difference in how the system actually sounds.
It’s as if someone has lifted the roof off, and all this activity that was going on above my head is revealed …
clear as can be, like I’ve moved from #Flatland into the world of the third dimension. Woohoo! #3D
I still have some things to get sorted out; I need to pick up some more speaker wire, as some of the cables are now too short, and draping in the wrong places.
Some of my artwork will need to be moved … I may need to get creative and come up with new ideas to fill some of the spaces that are more sympatico with … you know, speakers on poles.
I feel like mentioning MakerStock.com, which was a great source for precision cut Baltic Birch plywood for the speaker mounts. I don’t have a wood shop, so they were a big help!
The #TTArtisan fisheye lens gets everything into the picture … and as you can see, my keyboards are happy with the change, and they’re smiling now, too. : )
Thanks for putting up with my babbling about this over multiple weeks and posts … it really has paid off in a major way – more than I let myself hope for.
It will take me a little while to pick up the #Sonarworks calibration software, but that will go a long way towards compensating for this less-than-optimal mixing environment.

Stage gezocht!
Onze zoon studeert aan het Deltion (Zwolle), Creative Developer, het 3e leerjaar. Hij is een echte artist, geen programmeur. En al zeg ik het zelf (niet alleen omdat ik zijn vader ben 😊), hij maakt echt mooi werk. Hij voelt zich erg thuis in Blender en Substance 3d Painter en hij denkt in 3D (levert leuke gesprekken op 😁 ).
Hij is nog op zoek naar een stage voor de periode van augustus/september 2026 - februari 2027. Wie weet een mooie stage plek voor hem in de regio Zwolle/Deventer/Enschede? Het liefst in de game wereld maar alles waar hij zijn Blender skills kan tonen is erg welkom.
