While I'm not yet ready to create new #mathart, I'll be posting some old ones I produced ~10-15 years ago, and may have already been seen in other places. The following one is my conception of an "ouroboros torus", a donut eating itself:
I might have talked about Andrew Glassner's deceptively simple idea of geometric substitution (cf. https://doi.org/10.1109/38.135881) before in making #mathart, but I like coming back to it every now and then. The examples in Glassner's article used polyhedra as examples, but I mixed it up and sometimes included tori and torus knots as well in my various attempts. The one attached to this toot, which is based on the trefoil, was from ~15 years ago.
