I started referring to the techbro, AI brainwashing #koolaid as containing #egojiuce , as none of it makes any sense. It appeals to, and is in control by the illogical, egoic mind–juice fueled ego. Small minded people that resent the effort, blood sweat and tears, that it takes to be talented, brilliant, knowledgeable. So arrogant, so self absorbed to think that one can buy it. So hell bent on winning that they start to turn into deformed little golems, coveting precious.
Simply, if you are behind AI, you are a climate change denialist. I personally associate climate change denial with degenerate, egomaniacal, scumbags. Not harsh enough. You get off on this shit, so much so that you willfully ignore all the warning signs–for your own selfish edification.
Let me be clear. Every time you normalise AI, you are condoning the vast array of negative and detrimental effects it has to life on this planet–you are complicit.

Slowly weaning myself off of #Fedora - starting with pruning the packages I maintain.
It's been a good run but I want more time to contribute to non-corporate #Linux distributions / #Unix OSes, especially those with #NoAI policies or where there is space for bottom-up changes.
I will likely still be around for at least a year - I still have a long standing pet project I might now have time to push, and existing committee and work related commitments - but I am starting to get used to not thinking of myself (mainly) as a Fedorian...
Made good friends along the way, almost no regrets... but when your #DayJob hat and your community hat feels increasingly indistinguishable, it... eventually grates. And the difference in ethical and philosophical outlooks harder to ignore...

Now that Linux has boarded the slop train and its leader has announced full stream ahead, the least I can do is to add support for NetBSD to the compiler discussed in my upcoming book.

Gosh I hate the LLM internet so much. A colleague died a few days ago. Now fake AI-generated obituaries are popping up online, scraped from public information with some sentimental wording slapped on to mimic a real obituary. It's so gross and fake.

Easiest way I have found of telling if a repo has an LLM as a contributor is to **block** the LLM in question, like this one. You'll get a dialog that says so and so contributes to blah blah blah, even if they try and hide it. https://github.com/claude #NoAI #FuckAI
