Had to cancel an order that was apparently lost in the void (three weeks late).
Called to cancel, since both the website and app were useless. “AI assistant” answered and explained it’s “still learning and could make mistakes.” It certainly made mistakes.
Finally got a human, and it was fixed in ~45 seconds.

Nobody wants this. Nobody cares. The only people who do are “futurist idealists” and investors. That’s it.
AI is truly fucking over all kinds of creators and artists. Not really new forms of theft and fraud, but at scale and speed previously unimaginable, with relative ease. Just saw an up and coming musician have all their songs copied, run through ai to remix, batch uploaded to streaming sites, copyright applied and:
Boom, they were flagged and lost the income on their streaming. It was corrected, but fucking Meta took down their post about it for "violating community standards".

I just watched a video of a dog doing something that I thought was cool, and then someone pointed out to me that it was generated with AI. I hate that we have to research every new video, every new image, every new song, every new everything, to make sure it's not AI generated.

We recently came across an amazing project called uBlockOrigin & uBlacklist Huge AI Blocklist.
As they describe it, it's:
A huge blocklist of manually curated sites (1000+) that contain AI generated content, for the purposes of cleaning image search engines (Google Search, DuckDuckGo, and Bing) with uBlock Origin or uBlacklist.

I've been writing using em dashes since the 1990s. The reason AI uses em dashes is because it was trained on my writing, and that of countless other humans like me.
I got an email from my bank with the subject line:
"Protect your business from AI-driven fraud."
So yeah, another win for AI, really improving the lives of... scammers?

Welp. I've been using GitLab for over a decade and have been pretty happy with it. Deployed and maintained several instances, some personal, some for small hobby orgs, some for work.
But it looks like it is time to ditch GitLab for good:

Just a note to everyone - Pride Month is no excuse to use generative AI to make "happy PRIDE" posts, merch, or any image or text related to it.
Generative AI is funded by facists who hate LGBTQAI+ and who fund laws against us. It is the tool of the enemy we all should resist together - not generate useless slop that muddies the message with AI vomit.
Using it shows no care, no love, and no solidarity.
