<p>I have been on <a href="/tags/fediverse/" rel="tag">#Fediverse</a> for about a little bit over a year and a half now.</p><p>After about three weeks over at <a href="/tags/bluesky/" rel="tag">#Bluesky</a>, I decided to set myself up with a <a href="/tags/mastodon/" rel="tag">#Mastodon</a> and a <a href="/tags/pixelfed/" rel="tag">#Pixelfed</a> account despite felt technically intimidated by the whole Fediverse thing. And I’m glad I went for it—enjoy the vibes, the different communities, especially the <a href="/tags/wordle/" rel="tag">#Wordle</a> community, and the people!!!<br>(1/3)</p>

<p>Great day at <a href="/tags/fedicon/" rel="tag">#Fedicon</a> yesterday. I met lots of new people from the <a href="/tags/activitypub/" rel="tag">#ActivityPub</a> community. I&#x27;ve always thought that <a href="/tags/xmpp/" rel="tag">#XMPP</a> and the <a href="/tags/fediverse/" rel="tag">#Fediverse</a> are ideologically well-aligned, and that our developer communities should talk to each other more. In that regard, it was a big success.</p>

<p>Thinking about the Mastodon version of the <a href="/tags/fediverse/" rel="tag">#Fediverse</a> that is so user hostile they don&#x27;t like adding things to the main web UI that would make us want to stay, such as a way to schedule posts without using a third party client or the API. I just scheduled three posts for the end of the year and it didn&#x27;t kill <a href="/tags/mastodon/" rel="tag">#Mastodon</a>. But Mastodon keeps telling us they don&#x27;t want influencers here. I agree. Fuck influencers. They should be ran off the internet. But you can&#x27;t want people to switch to Mastodon but then don&#x27;t want people to use Mastodon. Logic never works like that. I&#x27;ve been here since 2017 ish, and while I get viscerally annoyed at all the folks that want to have an algorithm, even a custom one, I&#x27;m not trying to chase them off.</p>

<p>I finally added an oft-requested feature to <a href="https://arewedecentralizedyet.online/" rel="nofollow"><span class="invisible">https://</span>arewedecentralizedyet.online/</a> , my project to track statistics for the <a href="/tags/fediverse/" rel="tag">#fediverse</a> and other Internet infrastructure. it now includes history for the Shannon Index, showing how decentralization has evolved over the time I&#x27;ve been collecting data.</p>
