Advice sought. I've been reading #TerryPratchett #DiscWorld books in order starting with book one, The Color Of Magic. If you're a Discworld fan, you know The Color Of Magic is a "Wizards" book

Just finishing up book six, Wyrd Sisters. (A "Witches" book.)

Book seven, the next one, is considered a "Standalone", Pyramids. Are there shy characters in the previous books at all?

Book eight, "Guards! Guards!" Is a "City Watch" book. I understand there are characters in that book I've already encountered.

I'm tempted to jump there. Unless there are some character appearances or some other tie-ins, regardless of how trivial, in Pyramids further on.

Ok let’s crowdsource this shit. I know there’s some #discworld nerds on here.

I want to make a playlist where I have one song for each book in the series. Eg Thief of Time is obviously Clocks by Coldplay, Pyramids is Walk Like An Egyptian, Small Gods is Losing My Religion. Songs should be bangers and also thematically appropriate. (I have a list for a lot of them, I’ll post it after this has had a chance to make the rounds.)

The first Science of Discworld book gets 4/5 stars... I think, wait let me check my math.The Science parts got 3 and the Wizard parts got 5 so if you add 'em up carry the 1, always carry the one, divide by two you get 4... I think.Unless we take into account that the Science chapters were longer than the Wizard chapters, wigheted data-points and all that, but a little lying to children is to be expected, it is #Discworld after all, the narrativum has to go somewhere.

#TerryPratchett was my most beloved author by far when I was a teenager, but I've re-read him only a few times over the last few decades. Unlike some of my other early literary faves, this one at least stands up very well for me. Not only is it endlessly quotable, but it is a well plotted mystery, with themes of gender and multiculturalism that don't feel dated, plus what's not to like about golems starting a worker's revolution? @bookstodon #bookstodon

Just 24 hours after our last post, everyone at the Convention is extremely saddened by the loss of Tim Curry. Tim played Trymon in the 2008 Sky One TV adaptation of Sir Terry Pratchett's The Colour of Magic.

In a nod to one of Tim's most famous roles, in 2010 the #DiscworldConvention staged the (never to be forgotten) Rocky Horror Discworld Show!

Tim and his magnificent voice will be very much missed.
