Today in the greenhouse...

Lophophora williamsii, known as peyote, native to southern North America, particularly the Chihuahuan Desert. So unusual for three flowers to appear at once and this is the smallest of my peyote plants. The flowers will probably be followed by pink seedpods and black seeds, though I've never tried growing this species from seed.

Evening walk after a brief, but most welcome, rain shower. I stopped by the gardens at the nearby research greenhouse to see what’s growing. 🌺🌵☔️

The air is heavy with humidity, and it's supposed to start raining tonight through tomorrow morning. My garden will be grateful.

The Panicle Hydrangeas have produced massive flowers that change color, from chartreuse to white to pink-tinged. (photos attached)

The tomatoes are coming in early. Two heirloom varieties are ripening: AZ Cutler and Purple Cherokee. It's a miracle that I get any tomatoes at all given that our garden is mostly shaded. (photo attached)

I send my daughter dahlia photos almost every day. I brag about what a fabulous dahlia grower I've turned out to be.
I know it makes her laugh.
My garden doesn't hold a candle to hers and is only thriving because she guides my dahlia journey and she really is an expert.
Finding ways to connect with my kids has been my super power and my greatest joy.
