I had access to an abundance of new to me dahlia tubers this year.
The wait for them to open up is often long.
This one is called Terracotta and it has been teasing a flower for weeks. It is big and beautiful and worth the wait.

Here, take some flowers because tomorrow is Monday.
My hollyhocks in the backyard; this plant is about 5 year old. I should plant more of them. Once established, they are care-free and tough. But growing them from seeds is not easy...

This is "Double Wye River"

A bright (bright!) tall yellow double flower, with so many yellow petals they're difficult to count. Sprinklers had run, so the flower is covered in small water droplets. The yellow encompasses the entire bloom, from the straight edges to the throat. Yellow!

An unopened bud is visible behind this bloom so (deer willing) you may see another one of this flower.
