Hey politicians, instead of age gating the internet and fucking up all our privacy, can you do something useful such as ban all promotional use within push notifications? I don't even want push notifications telling me about a new feature within the app, that's what release notes are for. I just got a Hoopla push notification that was telling me they have a lot of titles I can watch, but it was in the style of a generic promotional ad. Just no. I am guessing Android users have to put up with this bullshit too? Same with Netflix. I don't want a push notification telling me I haven't watched in a while. Fuck off. And fuck you if you are a developer and you do this. If you do this, you deserve to be pirated, that is how much I hate this practice. #Apple #Android

If you're stuck using an iPhone or other Apple device you don't have to use Apple Maps or their services. For maps download a privacy respecting, open source map app like Organic Maps.
Pull your data out of iCloud and use a service like Proton which offers a package that includes email, cloud storage, documents, Password manager, VPN, etc.
Boycott #Apple #Google #Meta #Amazon #Microsoft and any other #US #Tech that supports fascism.

I stopped using #Google and any other #bigtech products a long, long time ago (2015-ish? maybe earlier). It's time for everyone else to move away too, and this includes #Apple, Microslop (#Microsoft), #Meta, #Amazon and many others.

- use degoogled Android ROMs like @GrapheneOS, and many others for any Android phone
- use @fdroidorg as your store
- use #OpenStreetMap clients (like @organicmaps)

I’m pretty convinced that irrespective of all the issues, the economics of #genAI just don’t work with the current compute infrastructure requirements. Open models and what’s left of Moore’s law could be a really big deal.
Even though I'm avoiding buying #Apple Watches because I don't want my tech recording me/listening to me all day. This is a violation of state privacy laws. Apple tried to save face and say you can disable it/it's disabled and you need to opt into it, but we've been here before. Never trust a CEO, ever, about anything. CEOs will kill your kittens if they could make profits off killing your kittens. Data is far more profitable than money these days. Lawyers, if you need me to be a plaintif, raises hands.
When I was wishing consent would become normalized as a teen, I was talking about fucking over rape culture.
