Met this badger last night, zooming past me on the walkway where I just passed. They were moving right to left, but thankfully decided to come back and take a quick sniff while I brought out the phone camera before continuing along. I wonder what I'll see tonight, soon time for my late night walk.

"Your city is a scab on the landscape: sidewalks, roads, parking lots, rooftops—the built environment repels water into sewers & then into the environment. Urban planners have been doing it for centuries, treating stormwater as a nuisance to be diverted away as quickly as possible to avoid flooding. Not only is that a waste of free water, it’s an increasingly precarious strategy, as #climate change worsens #droughts but also supercharges storms, dumping ever more #rainfall on impervious cities.

#Urban areas in the United States generate an estimated 59.5 million acre-feet of stormwater runoff / year on average—equal to 53 billion gallons / day. Over the course of the year, that equates to 93% of total municipal & industrial water use. American urban areas couldn’t feasibly capture all of that bountiful runoff, but a combination of smarter stormwater infrastructure & “#SpongeCity” techniques would make urban areas far more sustainable."

It is early morning in Venice, Italy, and though we are close to the busy Santa Maria Formosa square, we have the neighborhood to ourselves for the moment, because the day tripper tourists haven't yet arrived.

Everything is still, and the only sound is the tap tap tap of our footsteps across the bridge.

As the early morning fog rolled in, the bustling downtown Seattle area was transformed into a hazy, dreamlike cityscape.
From a distance, the tall buildings were barely visible, their tops just barely peaking through the thick blanket of fog at times. It was as if the city had been enveloped in a white, mystical cloak, creating an otherworldly atmosphere.
The telephoto lens captured the scene perfectly from a distance, enhancing the ethereal quality of the fog as it swirled and danced around the buildings.

The telephoto view allowed for a unique perspective on the city, showcasing the beauty and mystery of the fog as it clung to the tops of the buildings. It was a breathtaking sight, one that could only be truly appreciated from a distance. As the sun began to rise, the fog slowly started to dissipate, revealing the familiar skyline of Seattle.
