Step by step, section by section, the garden clean-up continues. Due to the very wet month of August, it's a lot weedier than usual, and progress is tedious, but (beside the yet-to-be-gathered butternut squash) this is the last big harvest of the year (gathering material for the ever-expanding compost piles. We hope there is enough good weather left for them to rot down considerably before the freeze comes.
