Our magnolia tree out back is starting to bloom. When we first moved here, we thought it was the non-blooming type. After a few years we took down a couple hackberry trees (they're known to hollow out in the middle), which gave the magnolia a lot more sun. A year or so later it started to bloom! #BloomScrolling #SilentSunday

A handrail made of cut white birch twists alongside a few stairs going down to a small beaver pond. The rail consists of 2 pieces - a crooked 8 foot piece interlocked with a standing 3 foot post. Reflections from conifers and budding deciduous trees are seen atop the water.

Sweet home is a landscape painting in acrylic painted by the artist Karen Kaspar. The abstracted dream landscape in expressive colours shows a small white house in the middle of a yellow field, perhaps a rape field in spring or a sunflower field in summer or ripe grain in autumn. Above the field stretches a wide sky with dark blue storm clouds. Rays of sunlight illuminate the field and the house. The picture was painted with loose expressive brushstrokes. The colour contrast between the field in bright yellow and orange tones and the sky in dark blue and violet tones emphasises the painting's bright expressive effect.

Two happy, stuffed party fish, float high above a green-walled room. They are underlit, and their shadows show on the ceiling. A cement casting of various seashells is hung on the wall nearby, to remind them of home.

These are two 2-3' long portly stuffed fish, each with a bemused expression, one in teal and one in yellow, both with orange-colored fins. Each also has very fine furry (feather) hair on top of their heads, and a party blower (? I have no idea what these are called, they unroll when you blow in to them) in their mouths. Long strings of curly ribbons dangle from these party favors.

We've had them for years and years.

We look down on a sunny jumble of light purple flowers (phlox) in full bloom. Each flower is a tiny trumpet with a bell that flares out into a wide flat star made of five pear-shaped petals. The narrow opening of the trumpet is a dark five-pointed-star-shaped void in the center. The petals have a silky texture with delicate ripples and beautiful subtle gradations of color. Sunlight lies lightly on them. They are speckled with barely visible white dots of pollen.

A 15 foot wide, rocky brook is running away from the camera. On either side are budding birches, hemlocks and ferns. The water is fairly shallow.
