Wow, I didn't realise that LibreOffice turns 40 this year with it's latest release.
It started out as closed source Star Writer for CP/M in 1985 with DOS 3.2support in 1986.
Then became Star Office in 1994 for Windows 3.1
It became open source as Open office in 2001 and the LibreOffice fork in 2010.

hey #retrocomputing folks, cleaning my office, found a few old wifi routers, trying to figure out if i can e-waste them.
are modern WiFi devices (let's say for example the Intel AX200 card since i have a few) still capable of backwards compatibility with old 802.11b devices that might only support WEP or WPA1? think first-gen Apple AirPort, PSP, DS.
(and yes i'm aware of the ARK plugin specifically for WPA2-PSK/AES support on the PSP)

I have started soldering and assembling some #BurgerDisk units for the kickstarter... But I've run out of Arduinos and will soon be out of PCBs, and MicroSD modules. I'll have to wait for the postman to continue!

My Easter treat has been to work on my silly hosted-at-home retro website. It now features actual content, animated GIFs, and photos of pineapples!
There's a few dynamic pages under cgi-bin, although they are not actually CGI scripts—they are generated by a Rust program. The dynamic content includes live energy stats, climate info, and memory & uptime info. I still want to fill out the content some more, but I also need to do other things.
i'm making a #QBasic game using mode 13h, 320x200 8bpp. i'm using the line doubling feature of the VGA card to make it 320x100 then manually doubling each pixel horizontally for 160x100
i realized i could use a palette with 3 bits red/green and 2 blue, and then do "subpixel" dither to generate the in between colors. i made a converter to test if that would look good, and it does

In 1976 Robert S. Boyer at SRI and J Strother Moore at Xerox PARC invented the Boyer-Moore fast string-search algorithm. Moore wrote in Interlisp the first implementation which was "10 to 50 times faster than the existing routines for searching for strings in a file", as Warren Teitelman noted in the 1976 annual report on Interlisp:
