New video! I reviewed a pre-production version of the new mechanical Amiga keyboards from A1200net. These are suitable for most Amiga models and fit both the new replacement keycaps and the original keycaps, retaining the original look and feel of the machines.

Ich war vorhin mal an meinem Debian Testing Rechner, um nach Updates zu schauen.. habe mir mal den Spaß erlaubt, Protracker zu installieren.. das war damals 1990 mein erstes Tracker Programm auf meinem damaligen Amiga 500 Computer gewesen, mit dem ich Songs komponiert hatte..später ab 1991 dann mit Oktalyzer..❤️

Is #TheA1200 worth picking up for a guy who a) never had an #Amiga, b) would love to potentially tinker with development, or just exploring the vast library of stuff (beyond the built-in). I have "TheC64" and I think it's pretty sweet, but I understand the limited corner of the retro universe this is intended to fill...

In other words, I know it comes with Workbench, but -- hardware and ports aside -- can I treat this as a "real" Amiga, like, with a persistent USB drive or whatnot?

These are questions I need to know before pulling the trigger. Otherwise I'd rather put that money towards the real thing.

Did you know you can still get the src for the DICE C compiler (68000 #ANSI C #compiler) written for the #Amiga in the early 90's by Matthew Dillon?
Itll run on #BSD or #Linux host and can generate generic 68000 output that doesn't have to be targeted to the Amiga. It contains all utilities required to compile, assemble, link, rom, etc, and it's BSD licensed. dmake is needed to compile it on #Unix. It will generate 68K code, Amiga bin, obj, etc

It is still under heavy development, but my Regroove VST can play .mod Protracker, .mmdn (Octa)MED SoundStudio, .ahx like HiverlyTracker and some .sid (PSID) format files. MED, AHX and SID all have synthesized playback support.
