a kitsune with blue magic orbs and a tanto faces off against a giant snake set to a crunchy dithered 3D blobber dungeon background. at the top are 4 cards, with red, yellow and blue colors. the cards have one big icon indicating its type, and 2 small icons indicating the damage type (slashing, fire, holy, smashing) and associated stance (aggressive, balanced, guarded).

in the top left and below the enemy are widgets that have a stance icon, indicating the stances for the player and enemy, as well as a turn gauge where a turn can be taken when full. the larger bar for the enemy is red indicating HP, while for the player its blue indicating focus, which allows for drawing cards from the library to the player's deck when full.

under the top left widget are 4 icons representing melee attack, magic attack, defense, and run. below that on the left center is the players deck showing the number of cards remaining. below that in the bottom left are the player's HP, will (for willpower) and stress.

a pointing hand cursor points at the melee attack action icon. at the bottom of the screen is a darkened horizontal bar with a little "info" tag which says "Melee attack"

Since it wasn't immediately obvious to me when I first looked, freepixel.art / freepixelart.itch.io is AI slop, not actual pixel art produced by humans.

There are loads of assets created by actual artists on places like itch.io and opengameart.org. Search the #PixelArt and #ドット絵 tags to find lots of artists here on Mastodon!

calling this out because they only mention the AI thing in their about page. i wouldn't have said anything if not for the fact that it strolled across my timeline from the #pixelart tag, and i checked the site because it seemed cool.

they made a gambling site for slop. and they know it's gambling too, because the "art" they list has a rarity rating. they slopped out some images, assigned them a rarity score, and put them in a fucking slot machine. they say they want to make pixel art "accessible" (destroy every ai bro who says that word) but how does a gambling machine do that? they're not even pretending. just lying.

and yet it's with a male character that i'm actually considering figuring out how to do actual anatomy (usually i start off with characters fully-clothed, though recently i did get a bit better on making good-looking leg shapes)

though i guess if i did the same with a female character, i would not be putting up this image here right now

I've updated the Krita dithering brush set. Summary:

1. The meta-data was updated (website and email was out of date).

2. The brush dynamics are improved so the brushes are opaque at the edges when using light tablet pressure.

Somehow, the whole knight-on-a-hobby-horse setup still wasn’t silly enough for me. So I added an apple on top – which you can have a gnome shoot off your head, Wilhelm Tell style.
 Oh, and you can now stumble awkwardly too.
