A ASCII art game that breaks with quite some conventions in a wonderful way. Instead of moving an @ through a maze of lines, it feels like moving through a strange, mysterious world ... a game with a limited, set scope, where the atmosphere and the fundamental idea of the game are much more important than the balance or the gameplay ... a parabola on life itself.

I had an idea for something to spice up
a rogue like if i make one ...

Have a powerful creature constantly but
slowly stalk you.

Like maybe it's dystopian future and you
have some radar scanning device so you
broadly know how close the thing is.

And if it's a roguelike with an overland
connecting dungeons and towns then
you could always skedaddle to the next
town or dungeon. But you would know
that the thing will just keep following you.

I'd say in mechanics terms the thing
would be very powerful. Like killing
it would be an ascension level event.

This year's "Make Something" theme might sound like hardware hacking, but any hand-crafted (non-AI) thing qualifies—blog posts, code, music, books, art, food, whatever.

Given that my hardware-hacking skills are comparable to a tin of rancid sausages, that's good. 😆

But it's a reasonable season to try and make headway on a couple pet projects. Notably the "copy a Maildir/mbox source to a destination Maildir, stripping all non-text/plain components in the process" utility.

However, the #roguelike terminal game will have to wait for progress until the kids are back in school in August and I've cleared a couple big-ticket items from the honey-do list.
