After jailbreaking my #kindle I decided to see what else I can do. Since it runs on #linux I was able to create a fetch utility to show some of the system information.
The project README is non existent at the moment but I’ll get that added when I get a chance.

Donated to Bonfire.
@bonfire is like Lego you can use to facilitate different types of online spaces & communities.
@publicspaces wrote about them in '22:
https://publicspaces.net/2022/12/14/bonfire-social-on-your-own-terms/
Now they've launched #Bonfire Social 1 .0 & are busy working on Bonfire Open Science Network. These apps share code, but the focus of each ‘flavor’ of Bonfire is slightly different. If you have the opportunity to support them, it would be greatly appreciated!

I took a bye last month on account of it being the busiest week of my life, but I'm back with two #50forFOSS donations this month to make up for it. It's a double feature!
Psst...#50forFOSS is a monthly community pledge. If you want to join in, just pick a free/open-source project you appreciate and send 'em some cash. $50 is suggested, but any amount is great.

Little Bits: Issue #30 For October 2025
An important message about the threat of losing software freedom, what you can do about it and over a hundred and fifty new little bits to uncover.
Please boost to spread awareness.
💾 From Duplicity to Borg — a backup journey
After more than a decade with Duplicity, I finally switched to BorgBackup — and wow, that difference.
📂 Source data: 719 GB in my /home
📦 Packed size: 419 GB
📉 Actual storage: 390 GB after compression
That’s more than a 45% reduction, and the upload to remote storage is much faster now.
For someone who handles geospatial and scientific data daily, this is huge.
It’s not just about saving space — it’s about making the workflow lighter, faster, and more sustainable.
🧠 Curious — what backup tools do you trust most?

I want to propose Commons Based Peer Production as an economic model capable of representing #opensource work, #carework, #volunteering and similar efforts, where traditional #capitalism can not.
Would this allow us to describe a path towards a #solarpunk #postscarcity future?
As of Fedora Linux 43, would you make Fedora your go-to recommendation for someone's first Linux distro? Please check the response that most closely fits what you think.

Curious about the latest trends in Open Source, GitHub, and AI? I recently had a great conversation with GitHub’s @alacolombiadev and @kedashakerr about this year’s Octoverse Report! We discussed how AI is shaping programming language preferences, the evolving approach to security in open source projects, and what these changes mean for developers.
Tune in to hear our thoughts and takeaways!

There's lots of talk about "digital sovereignty" – but what does that exactly mean? Well, avoiding vendor lock-in and economic dependency for starters. Not wasting anymore time and heart advocating for Firefox and forks, they're doomed.
"Opensource" is sadly not enough to keep me ignoring the awful organization and their individuals parading like they wouldn't just throw you under the bus the moment they get a break
