Mastodon Bird UI support for Mastodon v4.6.0 with CSS properties is coming soon. The theme will also be modularized using SCSS partials to match Mastodon's new style infrastructure.

The build process will include npm scripts and Parcel, making the theme ultra-portable for any Mastodon instance, whether added through the Custom CSS textarea or directly by a Mastodon admin.

I'll also create a simple bash script for Mastodon admins to enable the theme as a selectable option more easily than the current fork-and-cut method.

This is no easy feat, but definitely worth it.

Finding out what a program is doing on Linux often means remembering several ps options and piping the result through grep.

With px, it can be as simple as:

./px -t cwm

The -t option displays threads as well, making it easy to see which one is using CPU and how long the process has been running.

px does not try to replace ps, top, or htop. It focuses on one common daily task: finding a process quickly and getting useful information without memorizing complex options or using grep.

I made a script to put GIFs & transparent images as your Windows profile picture!

It always annoyed me, how on Windows, if your profile picture is partially transparent, #Windows will convert it to a .jpg file with a black background.

Well, it turns out if you edit the right registry keys (which are super protected even under admin rights, I wonder why!), you can set your account picture with transparency, and even use a #gif which moves and everything!

I made a neat Powershell script that does all of it for you, if you'd like to do it as well!

I couldn't help but notice the most recent OpenBGPD release announcement mentioned something about a -portable branch? Admittedly, it has been a very long time since I looked at building OpenBGPD on macOS, but maybe it is worth looking at again? I still think it is probably ill advised to use macOS for something as critical as routing insomuch as it sleeps, with abandon, unless /usr/bin/caffeinate is invoked.
