Portraits of some of the recent lichens I've met. My guesses as to IDs:

* Flavoparmelia caperata
* A nice moss that looks like asparagus tips, with Xanthoria parietina & physcia adscendens (?) growing through / around it
* Parmotrema, physcia & candelariella
* Caloplaca species

The last time I traveled, I put my bonsais in this transparent storage bin to maintain the moisture. And wow. They're doing better in the bin than they ever did when I was diligently watering them. Especially the moss. I've never seen it so healthy and vibrant. It reminds me that I'd like to make a little enclosed terrarium one of these days.

I mentioned walls of moss, but I am tragically unable to choose just one picture worth my delight at this short but intensely mossy path. You can breathe the green just looking at the pictures.

A hollow log was put horizontally as a spout for a natural spring in the forest, the water cascades out of it in a thin drizzle. The log is covered with a colony of brown-gold colored mushrooms with a flat cap. On both sides of the spring, the ground is covered in lush vegetation

Most of the photo is taken up by a large rock sitting in a shady brook. It is nearly entirely covered in bright green moss. Toward the center of the rock, on a mossy ledge, sits a Green Frog. Though much of its skin is metallic brown, the area under its eye and along mouth is bright green.

I guess this is what moss looks like after the sporophytes have blown their tops and dispersed their spores? Thanks to the hashtag #mosstodon I've paid a lot closer attention to moss this year so this is all new to me.

Some silvergreen byrum moss but there's nothing silver or green about it. The sporophytes have blown their tops (that used to be pointy), and now they look like red cups or goblets on top of long slender stems.

Whew! I knew this was going to be a tricky replanting and it was but went more smoothly than I'd expected. This mini bog started out in 2023 as a random throwing things together with different Sundew seed stalks, moss and some Butterworts in a Tupperware-type container using coconut coir as the growing medium and I actually didn't expect it to survive. It seemed to (mostly) do okay and it was time to move it to a larger container.
