As a pacifist, what I love most about the Fediverse is how it feels like a shared search for peace. We have Caturday, when everyone posts cat pictures every Saturday. There's Mosstodon, which is all about sharing beautiful photos of moss and nature. And we have SilentSunday, where people post calm outdoor and nature photos. Even with all the chaos in the world, the Fediverse has a way of calming my mind.

It is a REALLY good idea to write an introductory post about yourself and pin it to your profile. Pinned posts appear at the top of your profile page, and they also have a special ability to federate much more widely than ordinary posts.

Here's why it matters: there's a quirk on Mastodon where some profiles may appear blank to people on some servers, but profiles with pinned posts never look blank to anyone!

Hello World!
I'm lucky to have made it this far in life avoiding #socialmedia sites- so why not make the inevitable misstep slightly less bad by having my first platform be the 'good' one? Some good news about #Mastodon, there has been a very significant bit of code added which will automatically fetch all the replies in a thread. This means everyone will be able to see a thread's whole conversation no matter which server they are on! 🥳
The code has just been "merged" which means it should become available in the next update to Mastodon, hopefully within the next few months.

We added our Vivaldi Social server to the Fediverse on November 15th 2022. We are still, I believe, the only browser company that is fully behind the Fediverse. It is something we are very proud of!
