At @Vivaldi, we have chosen to include a lot of features not found in any other Web browser. This includes our mail client, calendar, task manager and feed reader. This is all a part of moving away from Big Tech as you can check your mail and calendar in Vivaldi and gradually move your mail service from Big Tech to one of the many mail services available, but access both from Vivaldi. This is the benefit of keeping the mail server and the mail client separate.
The feed reader is another great feature which allows you to subscribe to your favorite new sources and have them displayed in chronological order.
The calendar works with online services, but can also be used locally.

been warming up to kde. The apps don’t always* look great but they work better. I didn’t plan it like this, but as I bump into issues with a modern gtk app, a qt one often ends up being the alternative.
GNOME looks easier for non-technical users, but in practice it’s just more limited.
COSMIC is the one that looks most promising for me, but feels early days.

coming from macos, I’d like for apps to be well designed, consistent, and useful. That’s almost impossible in linux, but the sheer variety of tools available more than makes up for it.
Either way, the days of the full featured native macos app seem to be behind us. Lots of old good apps, and lots of new iOS style or web app style ones.

It doesn’t seem like there’s a working MPD plugin, but that can probably be rectified, I’ll have a look.

I wonder if apps support d-bus scripting in the same way Mac apps support AppleScript.
