#AskFedi : How to bulk download all emails in inbox from #Yahoo email? I confess, I do not have a good habit of archiving and backing-up my emails. Now my inbox is booming and reaching ~10k emails since I have subscribed to a few mail lists. I do have #Alpine set up locally on my laptop to read them once in a while. I tried Select All and Save in Alpine however it is too slow and easily fail simply because it took so long that remote server would kill the connection.

I do enjoy a desktop environment that allows you to _easily_ create an old skool right-click menu on your desktop.

There's some quirks to configuring the ordering, not sure if I'll need to hand edit the menu once I get it most of the way there.

For a mutli-head setup this avoids having to have an Application Launcher on every screen, but it does require access to unobscured desktop in order to work.

And my nerdy part likes the '80s-'90s UNIX desktop vibes it creates. Ha.

I've been messing around with #LXQT in a vm lately. I really kind of like it.

Is anyone using LXQT in a multi-head / multi-monitor configuration?

Any issues with where it defaults to placing new apps, resuming from screensaver or hibernation, adding/removing displays while running? Anything else I'm not thinking about?

Found the issue with screenshots on #MangoWC having random lines in them.
I have found out that it is caused by animations on the layerrule for slurp. Previously I had as per the docs:

layerrule=noblur:1,layer_name:selection

But have discovered if I also disable animations for slurp then it takes crystal clear screenshot selections now.

Depois de todos esses anos nessa indústria vital, é a primeira vez que me dei conta de que chamar GNU/Linux de "Linux" é uma metonímia. Ao rememorar essa figura de linguagem, foi possível ver ainda que usar o nome de uma parte de algo no lugar da denominação do todo consiste em um tipo específico de metonímia chamado sinédoque.

Então, a quem está ciente da questão: que tal dispensar a sinédoque nesse caso?

A quem ainda não sabe bem do que se trata ou sua importância, sugere-se a leitura, p. ex., de Usuários do GNU que nunca ouviram falar do GNU.

Eine kleine Nachlese zu unserem LPD 2026.1 Beitrag am 16.05.2026:

Trotz verlängertem Wochenende haben sich über 15 Gäste eingefunden. Hiervon konnten sich 5 intensiv über #Linux informieren und auch dazu die bereitgestellten Rechner intensiv nutzen.

Wir haben auch 2 Rechner vom Fensterprogramm befreien können und haben, obwohl wir auch nur mit einer kleinen Mannschaft vor Ort sein konnten einen intensiven und interessanten Nachmittag mit unseren Gästen genießen können. Vielen Dank!
