I've been lurking for a while now but figured I would make an #introduction. You can call me ferret and I use she/her pronouns. I don't know how active I'll be because I'm pretty shy, but I decided to make an account because I've been trying other social medias since twitter was bought by musk and I decided to try out the fediverse after Cohost had their second big funding issue back in March. Currently my favorite anime are the show Bang Dream: It's MyGO and the movie Liz and the Blue Bird.

Hello Fediverse, my name is Eric, I'm a journalist based out of Toronto working for an online publication called PressProgress.
Most of my work focuses on the activity of Doug Ford's Ontario government.
I've produced a number of award-winning podcasts and I have a background in web development. I guess you can say I'm a bit of a coding and podcasting and reporting guy.
I'm very interested in the Fediverse's potential and I'm glad to be here.

My name is Sashin.
I am functioning as a software developer but I am an aspiring writer.
I am passionate about clear communication, left-wing politics (anarchism, human rights and anti-bigotry), free software and animal rights.
I want to develop a deep understanding about how the world works, spread that knowledge and work towards making it a better place.
I love anime and manga.
My favourite manga is #onepiece which I have been reading every week since I was in highschool.
My favourite anime is probably The Tatami Galaxy.
I also like Ping Pong the Animation, Kino's Journey, Cowboy Bebop, Legend of the Galactic Heroes, Ghost in the Shell Stand Alone Complex, Gintama and many others.
I am have been learning Japanese largely on my own for the last five years. I've changed around how I have been approaching it, but have settled on immersion (lots of watching and listening to content in the language) as the best way.
I do flashcards everyday using Anki, where I learn ten new words and review words I already know and I am basically always listening to something in Japanese so long as I am not interacting with people or doing something that commands a lot of attention (so while walking, cleaning, cooking etc I am always listening, I also have a shower speaker). I don't do anything every special with my attention when immersing, I think the subconscious is where the magic of language acquisition happens.
I also love video games, I have a steam deck which I have more or less perpetually docked and connected to my housemate's projector. My favourite game is probably Undertale. I also love The Witcher 3, The Legend of Zelda and Hollow Knight.

BurritoZen the username was born on twitter around 2010. It was used by a very drunk mentally unwell late 20 something weird Twitter poster. Until he left to work on his mental health.
After over a decade of working on his mental health, helping others with their mental health , finding a partner and becoming a dad. A bored 40 something year old joined bluesky using his old moniker mainly to post about his journey with sourdough.
Eventually that bored 40 something dude decided to make burritozen an actual burrito character. So he became a sentient burrito shitposter. His constant skeets about buttholes, hating taco bell and just general tomfoolery including his unicorn Whimsy amassed. 3.7k followers and 35k posts.
Now I'm here. Just to make you giggle...about the absurd nature of being human.

Despite following almost 650 people over the last few years, my timeline feels increasingly empty and stale lately, a ghost town compared to a year ago or more, and I'm looking at refreshing things a bit. A lot of people have left the platform or are (understandably) afraid to post so much, especially due to the chilling effect of rising #fascism. But I'm still here, still posting. Still writing my #radical shit. Still trying to read and engage with others.

As an amateur photographer, I aim to share beauty as I see it, spike interest and inspire awe.
To do that, I capture instants in the life of people who usually don't pose, I take pictures of the far and near places I visit, and put my creativity at the service of aesthetics and sensation.

I ran the epistolary.org instance for three years. You may have originally followed me there. Unfortunately my costs climbed from $12/mo to over $50/mo due to database and media bloat, and I'm shutting it down.
I still believe in the idea that social media works best as many small connected spaces. I really like what jawns.club is doing as a small, regional instance, and I’m excited to be part of it.

We're dotmeow, a queer-run community project to register the gTLD .meow. But not only for meows and giggles! The profits of this gTLD shall go to community causes, turning every domain into queer community support, especially focusing on trans issues.
While we've already passed the ICANN Application Support Program, we're just now launching our web & social media presence(s). So while there's not much to see here yet, follow us if you're interested in registering a .meow domain and potentially supporting us in the way -- crowdfunding TBA soon.
Outside of announcements we want to engage with the fediverse as regular fedizens and won't spam you with meaningless ads <3
