I got a boost from @lisamelton and my $6.25/mo instance didn't break a sweat. Phew!

Hier im Fediverse erzielen meine Texte & auch Videos zu erneuerbaren Friedensenergien übrigens sehr viel Reichweite. 😊🙏🌱

mookie's #introduction / #reintroduction
it's me, hi. i'm the mookie, it's me.
i'm a serial #fediverse instance creator (and destroyer) and have been doing this since 2018. many will already be familiar with my name or my avatar.
i'm the father of two awesome kids. i love watching and talking about #movies. i'm a #gamer. i eat to #run. i'm a giant #starwars and #startrek nerd. i'm a born and raised #engineer.
my home is at https://ultramookie.com where i should be spending more time writing.
I am temporarily opening Ten Forward registrations (approval required) in case any lgbt.io members would like to make their new fedi home here.
Now I am curious, what's our #Filipino word for #Fediverse and #SocialWeb ?
So far, I these for potential Filipino translation of "Fediverse":
- bigkisberso (bigkis + uniberso)
- sansinukob = used in Filipino astronomy and literature to refer to the "universe" (I personally like this one)
- bukob (buklod + sukob) = just my invention
Other suggestions?
Since we're talking about the Filipino language (not Tagalog language), this means all Philippine languages are valid. We can combine them together, even use the 6th vowel /ë/.
But how about "Social Web"?
I was told that the Filipino for "Internet" is "daigbatan". I'm just not sure though since I can't find information on "batan" other than:
- Original name of Bataän was Batan, a Spanish word for "log" (🪵) which the province was named after by the Spaniards.
- The Ivatan people call themselves in the Ivatan language as "Batan". (Yes, Batanes = Isles of [the] Batan [people]. Batan + Isles (just my theory, but it makes logical sense 😝))
So, I'm not sure why "Internet" is "daigbatan".
My thought process is, "social web" could be:
- liponbatan = literally social network
- daiglipon = lit. world social; web social
Other suggestions?

Tiny Mastodon Tip About Quote Posts
📢
If your instance is already running the newly released version Mastodon 4.4,
Know that in preparation for the full implementation, the team has included a consent setting for the upcoming Quote Post feature.
While quoting a post will not
be available as a native feature until Mastodon 4.5 later this year, it's wonderful that you can adjust if you want in or not before it even arrives!
HOW TO❓
1. From the web interface, go to "Preferences" on the right-side menu. Then click on "Other" under the "Preferences" section
2. If your instance was newly updated, you should now see an option in "Posting Defaults" for "Who can quote" (see image below) 👇
Note: If the option isn't there, your instance has not updated to the version including it yet. Be patient, it will likely be added in the weeks to come.
3. From the "Who can quote" drop-menu, you can choose either "Everyone", "Followers and mentioned users", or "Only mentioned users"
4. Once the next version is released, you will be ready for Quote Posts! No matter your choices 💪
5. Enjoy the freedom of choosing the features you wish to participate in (or not)! 😌✨
For more information on Quote Posts, you can read Mastodon's announcement blog about it here: https://blog.joinmastodon.org/2025/02/bringing-quote-posts-to-mastodon/
✅ A migração é realmente limitada. Também acho que deveria trazer o conteúdo.
___________________

This week's #fediverse news:
- @activitypub.blog talks about how they plan to make WordPress sites a full member of the fediverse, with replies, follows, and your own feed
- @fediforum videos now available, with some thoughts on the ones that stood out to me
- server admins can now opt-in to @fed.brid.gy on a per-server basis
- @swf releases draft for E2EE messaging over #activitypub with MLS
Fediverse is still the most lively social network I have ever used, since MySpace in 2003. It is better than Twitter or any commercial social media platform ever was. Absolutely love being here.
The most profound thing about it is the international coverage. After the first wave of enshittification in 2010, algorithms took over, and suddenly as a polyglot I was labeled as Finnish. No more visible international posts, people only saw the Finnish ones.
I've noticed the same effect in commercial AI. It ignores the fact that I use English online 99% of the time and still replies to me in Finnish despite all instructions. Algorithms and AI label you. They assign you a language, a status, a certain type of person. There's no changing that.
The Fediverse and Mastodon are delightfully mine, yours, and truly open source - respecting privacy. Nobody's machine can tell you, "You are this, and this is why we do that."
Fuck labelers and the fog machines. Let me be me. Here, on my own server, I can embrace my weirdness and post however I want, how often I want, whenever I want, in whatever language I choose - without constantly worrying about how my identity will be perceived by a machine.
Updating Mastodon: 20 minutes
Updating snac2: 2 minutes
replying to my post for visibility 🙏Please share & Boost. Hoping anyone kind hearted people will help me out here. 😭
#Introduction post ✨
Sorry took long to post it .Also I just turned 24 and I currently lived Negros Philippines.
Not that this will affect anyone but me and @elliot , but I have imported the GardenFence Mastodon blocklist for spammy servers - https://github.com/gardenfence/blocklist/blob/main/gardenfence-mastodon.csv bar some such as bird.makeup (Twitter accounts), mostr.pub (nostr bridge) and one that is just scanning ActivityPub instances
A question for #Fediverse devs: I’m thinking about better ways to document development of the #ActivityPub stack. This would include explanations, demo code, example snippets, and various sections explaining how to build a fully working Fediverse server, with consideration for all of the FEP documents as well.
What do you, as a developer, feel is currently missing? What information would make your life a lot easier?
Hello World!
I just spoke with a #US #Senator office about the #fediverse . They're asking for more information to help spread around #Capital #Hill in small bite sized easy to understand pieces. I'm obviously going to give them @elena beautiful #movie on the #fedi (with some light editing which she's agreed to).
I'll of course show them https://fediverse.info/ and https://fedi.tips/ which are great websites. I figured I'd give them examples of amazing #AP projects such as #mastodon , #pixelfed , #peertube , #bandwagon , and #bonfire ; even things like @admin .
I'd love to know from folks any EASY to understand projects that best encompass the Fediverse and explanations of it.
What are some projects you'd hand to your friends and family that would explain and display to them what we are?
I'll say this isn't going to happen over night. There's lot of questions around regulations, trust & safety, etc. But I feel it's pertinent to at least get the conversation going, especially considering the current state of disdain for big social media and the impending legislation around these things.
I'll finally state if there's anyone in this list that does NOT want to be involved with this, that's totally fine and I understand and I can exclude you from the materials I give to them.

I've made a @newsmast channel for Fediverse development updates. It only contains official platform accounts to keep the feed focused.
Hint - create a new Mastodon List called "Fediverse Platforms", then check the "Hide from Home/Following timelines" option. Add @fedidevs to the list.
Now you have your own personal feed of Fedi Dev news you can check on when you're ready!
