This is a completely lovely introduction to the #fediverse. Such good work, @_elena. https://news.elenarossini.com/fediverse-video/

🎉 Big thanks to @2chanhaeng for his first contribution to #Fedify! He implemented the new fedify webfinger command in PR #278, which allows isolated #WebFinger lookups for testing configurations. This addresses the need for developers to test WebFinger functionality without performing comprehensive object retrieval.
The contribution includes:
- A new
fedify webfinger <handle>command that accepts@user@domainformat handles or URIs - Clean JSON output of WebFinger JRD results
- Proper error handling for invalid handles and lookup failures
- Complete #CLI integration with help text and usage examples
This was originally filed as issue #260 and marked as a good first issue—perfect for newcomers to learn the codebase structure while contributing meaningful functionality. The PR has been merged and will be included in the upcoming Fedify 1.8.0 release.
We appreciate all first-time contributors who help make Fedify better for the entire #fediverse community. Welcome aboard, ChanHaeng!
Heh, heh. Tonight I stumbled upon a hidden little feature in Fedify's CLI.
If you run `fedify nodeinfo mastodon.social -b` you get a cute little ascii art representation of the instance's logo.
Happy to see a bit of fun mixed into these fedi tools!
Mastodon's latest version has the ability to fetch missing replies from a conversation (under an experimental flag, not enabled by default).
This is a big deal, especially for smaller instances. Mastodon joins other platforms - of which I know of: Streams, GoToSocial, IceShrimp.NET and Bonfire - that pull back replies on request.
The hard work on the backend is done, and now there needs to be a discussion about how this interaction works as part of the user experience.
Hello #Fediverse I hope everyone is well & safe. May you all have a good start of the week & a productive one.🌈 If you can see this post TYSM for reading this. I only have a day left 2 settle my Rentbill and 0 (None) Support/Help since the day I posted this matter. Boosting this is big help already might be Seen by People who can spare a little.

Taking a look at the Wordpress ActivityPub Roadmap, at the very end I see this:
> Client-to-Server API (exploration)
> At this stage, we’re exploring and evaluating this based on community interest and potential use cases.
Client to Server API for ActivityPub is not widely utilized (or at all?) so this would be of great benefit to all fediverse platforms.
SHOW YOUR COMMUNITY INTEREST!!! @activitypub.blog

I am looking for experts/#developers who are familiar with #ActivityPub and who might be willing to chat with me.
I have started talking with parts of my network (mainly in D and NL), about how we could make the #Fediverse more interesting for content providers and main stream media. This also means attracting ordinary users to join and to find fair and simple ways to support content providers (without #paywalls).
I have some ideas, but now need more expertise and a deeper look under the hood.

Hier im Fediverse erzielen meine Texte & auch Videos zu erneuerbaren Friedensenergien übrigens sehr viel Reichweite. 😊🙏🌱

Evidently, I ruffled some feathers of a certain sort of people on a "Quiet Public" discussion by saying something that's not even that crazy.
They're reporting me en masse, even reporting posts that are completely unrelated to that discussion. They're seething because they can't accept that not everyone is going to have the same opinion on the Fediverse.
They want an echo chamber. Don't let them have it. Stand for digital freedom.

Tiny Mastodon Tip About Quote Posts
📢
If your instance is already running the newly released version Mastodon 4.4,
Know that in preparation for the full implementation, the team has included a consent setting for the upcoming Quote Post feature.
While quoting a post will not
be available as a native feature until Mastodon 4.5 later this year, it's wonderful that you can adjust if you want in or not before it even arrives!
HOW TO❓
1. From the web interface, go to "Preferences" on the right-side menu. Then click on "Other" under the "Preferences" section
2. If your instance was newly updated, you should now see an option in "Posting Defaults" for "Who can quote" (see image below) 👇
Note: If the option isn't there, your instance has not updated to the version including it yet. Be patient, it will likely be added in the weeks to come.
3. From the "Who can quote" drop-menu, you can choose either "Everyone", "Followers and mentioned users", or "Only mentioned users"
4. Once the next version is released, you will be ready for Quote Posts! No matter your choices 💪
5. Enjoy the freedom of choosing the features you wish to participate in (or not)! 😌✨
For more information on Quote Posts, you can read Mastodon's announcement blog about it here: https://blog.joinmastodon.org/2025/02/bringing-quote-posts-to-mastodon/
✅ A migração é realmente limitada. Também acho que deveria trazer o conteúdo.
___________________
