Rio and puppy Freya had a good time while we celebrated Father’s Day. Rio still needs to learn to play on a smaller dog’s level, but she did a decent job of holding her own.

Report from the Amsterdam protest: there are a few hundred people here and two uniformed Dutch cops at a respectful distance very casually chatting with each other while they wait for nothing to hurry up and happen.
A lot of people are tourists (American or otherwise) who happened to see the protest because the US consulate is between several museums. They’re all like “hell yeah I’m stopping for this.” Passing bikes ring their bells (some of them might even be in support and not because Americans are standing on the bike path). I don’t know where someone in Amsterdam found an enormous California bear flag on such short notice
And yes, everyone loves Odin, who randomly decided to put his paws up on my shoulders when we were very visible to the crowd

1. After 4 years of encouraging the growth of white clover over grass, I have finally achieved more than 50% clover in my backyard. (photo attached)
2. My dog is often fearful of what lurks in our tiny backyard--usually bunnies and robins. But today, she pranced out there like a fearless champ! (photo attached)
3. My mini wildflower meadows are blooming. It will last through Autumn, with different flowers emerging over time. (photo attached)
Buddy is officially in Palliative Care now. He got lots of pain medication, a shot and IV today at the vet so he feels a lot better. His hips are going. He's got a lot of pain in his back legs, but he still wants to be with us and so the vet says he is not suffering constantly yet. We can give him pain medication and for appetite to keep him going maybe a week maybe a couple weeks.
He has only eaten maybe 6 meals out of 28 in last two weeks. Lost 4 pounds in this last month and it shows. He turned down all his favorite treats. When he turned down bacon I got our appointment. We did find out he will eat a cooked hamburger patty! Prime beef. At 15 now he’s got all the symptoms he won’t live much longer. I’m glad to try Palliative care for him.

The dynamics of these dogs is amazing. She is older and the definite leader and is laser-focused on the toy; he is 20 lbs heavier and remains laser focused on her. Wave the toy around, she will follow it, he will remain focused on her. :)

This is the face of a silly boy
Who wagged his tail so hard in joy
That he could not hide the pain he felt
For he whined all night and cried and yelped.
The vet gave him some tasty treats
And looked him over on a high table-seat.
