Summer stands sentinel on the stairs. Her pal has gone up to take a nap. Anyone that would disturb him will have to go through her.
She is serious when it comes to taking care of her favorite human.
Pretty soon she will decide it's safe enough to go curl up next to him and nap facing the door.

Please boost? My son & d-i-l in #Houston found a #LostDog under my son’s truck. Spring Branch / Rollingwood area. Male, looks like a Husky / shepherd mix? Very smart, very affectionate, well socialized, good on a leash, loves toys. Is currently sprawled across my d-i-l’s lap on the sofa. A beautiful morning here on the north coast of California. A breeze with some clouds but the sun is shining.
We called my husband at the hospital. I put the call on speaker so Summer could hear his voice. She was fascinated and we were both happy to hear he is feeling better.
He got antibiotics and fluids all night and isn't in pain now. This is all great news.
Summer slept in her usual spot and I curled up next to her last night and we managed to get about six hours of sleep.
Now, we wait to see what the doctor says. Grandkids arrive soon and I will motor off to the hospital.

today is the king's birthday here in the Netherlands, but Odin stole the show from him in Amsterdam. He was a massive hit with the crowd, and he was an absolute angel of good behavior.
It's the only day of the year that unlicensed yard sales are legal in the Netherlands, so the streets are lined with children peddling stuff to earn some pocket change. There was a three-year-old who was frightened by Odin looming over her, she tried to run away, and she tripped and fell. We therefore made a big performative deal of buying potato chips from her.

In her old age, she walked you.
Make no mistake about it.
And in those walks, she made you appreciate
bird song before sunrise
the breeze and everything it carried
the simple beauty in moving slow before the world is awake.
She brought so much joy and has left it with us
like all angels do.
We’ve had Poppy for four years, and after every meal she still comes over to whoever fed her and does this little head butt thing to say “thank you.”
Sometimes we get a little burp in our faces which is also nice.

My husband is still pretty fragile but he wanted some fresh air. Summer and I decided to take him down the hill to the trail so he could sit at the picnic table while Summer got a swim. He didn't walk but could see us from a distance.
Summer didn't want to leave her pal behind but finally the lure of swimming got her down the trail.
It worked out for everyone.
