I posted about the Claude Code leak on LinkedIn and almost immediately someone attacked me about my criticism. They tried the "take a look at COBOL and get back to me" angle.
Buddy. I've written COBOL. I spent several years working almost daily with a 3-million-line monstrosity of a COBOL program. I was working on another app that interfaced with it, but in that work I occasionally had to read the code and in a few cases modify it. Granted I haven't spent as much time looking at the leaked Claude Code source code (and won't lol), but nevertheless I confidently declare that Claude Code is worse. "Spaghetti code" doesn't come close to describing this thing.

This is a bit niche, but today I noticed the "Local REST API" plugin for Obsidian is now the "Local REST API with MCP" plugin. MCP, short for Model Context Protocol, is an LLM coding agent thing. "Local REST API" previously served a REST endpoint that let other apps, notably browser plugins, interact with your Obsidian vault. It's useful: for instance, there's a browser plugin that allows you to download a copy of any web page and stash it in your vault using the REST API this plugin serves.
I created an issue on the plugin's GitHub about removing the MCP functionality into a separate plugin, and the maintainer immediately converted it into a discussion, which is here: https://github.com/coddingtonbear/obsidian-local-rest-api/discussions/272
I'm getting the impression from all the LLM-related discussions and commits that this is a lost cause and I'll probably have to fork this plugin if I want an MCP-free version of it. Looks like they took up slop coding earlier this year too, which is another area of concern.

#Anthropic is in the clear for training #Claude on millions of books without permission or payment. However, it's liable for obtaining many of those books illegally, and its settlement of those claims (about $3k/title) was approved by the court.
So far this decision only applies in the Northern District of California. But it breaks the ice and will (as lawyers say) be "persuasive but not binding" in other districts.

She also says that the vegan label is a joke because you could just take an existing product that was tested on animals, look at its ingredients, make a similar product with a different name and put the 'not tested on animals on it' - because you didnt do that with your product. Nobody cares that the reason why your product wasn't tested on animals is because the thing you copied already was.
She yaps about this stuff all the time. I hate that I know all of this. I hate her. yap yap yap.
