My #bookreview is brief/won't spoil, to spread good, great, and spectacular #horror #books far and wide.
An enthralling deep dive on a forgotten yet influential surgeon, SLEUTH-HOUND provides ample evidence this overlooking needs correcting. Dr. Lindsey Fitzharris provides a comprehensive, riveting, vivid account of his talents, the era, & its underworld that's absolutely fascinating. (Farrar, Straus, & Giroux)

Charlie Chaplin's film Modern Times opened in New York City.
During a European tour promoting City Lights, Chaplin got the inspiration for Modern Times from both the lamentable conditions of the continent through the Great Depression, along with a conversation with Mahatma Gandhi in which they discussed modern technology.

An interesting story with cozy-ish elements, though probably a bit more stakes and teeth to be called cozy. I’m a sucker for found family, food, and second chances, so this is spot on for me.
It was an effortless read that never felt too slow and I never had to pause to reread or figure out where things were at. I’d pick up a sequel if the author ever decided to follow Tytli’s journey from the end of the book or a coming-of-age tale about Astra.

The Hunter seeks peace and quiet to mourn the loss of her best friend in a world that seems bound and determined to make that task impossible. Enemies attack when she’d rather be alone, allies can’t take a hint and the arch-demon Wrath seeks the Hunter’s hand in marriage, even though she’d sooner kill him.

"I really enjoyed reading this, so utopian and dystopian at the same time"
Here is a selection of what readers are saying about The Blossoming of the Big Tree. We will keep adding more to this page as they come along, and we hope it can convince you to read this story, about an old woman who has to coordinate the defense of her decentralized nation when a colonizer invades, though she is the reclusive type of person.

The first Science of Discworld book gets 4/5 stars... I think, wait let me check my math. The Science parts got 3 and the Wizard parts got 5 so if you add 'em up carry the 1, always carry the one, divide by two you get 4... I think.Unless we take into account that the Science chapters were longer than the Wizard chapters, wigheted data-points and all that, but a little lying to children is to be expected, it is #Discworld after all, the narrativum has to go somewhere.

Honoré de Balzac’s La Comédie Humaine is a Hindu mandala
The 19th-century novelist Honoré de Balzac was Catholic, French to the core and obsessed with the material details of French society. Yet there is something profoundly Hindu in the way he sought to understand the world.

With almost every novel I read, I go through the same arc. At first the novel bores me. Then, suddenly, it becomes the most interesting thing in the world.
