Saddened to learn that Fenix has discontinued the venerable BC21R V3.0, a brilliant light powered by a user-replaceable 18650 battery.

Looks like it's more economical for them to sell only the BC26R which nominally takes a 21700 battery. But there is at least an adapter to use an 18650. OTOH, why not have a longer-running light and more lumens?

A great day to do some bike maintenance as well.

While I was wearing myself out on a 100+ miles ride, Josh decided to ride 28 miles around the beautiful country roads in Lincoln / Sudbury. But he started feeling tired and miserable after 20 miles. At 24 miles he got a flat. He was frustrated but then after walking a bit, he thought, you know what, I’m not mad that I have to walk the rest 4 miles. Good for him 🤣

So I bought some tubes from my local bike shop, replaced the tube for him this afternoon. And also refilled my commuter bike tires with sealant (yes it’s tubeless).

Bike maintenance day.

The NJ senate and assembly are trying to rush a bad bill through that would make all low-speed e-bikes “motorized bicycles”. They want to do away with the class 1/2/3 system and require a drivers license, insurance, and registration for all e-bikes.

I think this is bad for my family and community. If you do too reach out to your legislators.

As the end of the year closes in, I've been eyeing my #cycling stats, wondering if I will end the year with more than 2000 miles traveled by bicycle.

Based on the mileage I achieved last year and where I'm at now, I only need to travel another 40 miles (1 or 2 long exercise rides) to lock that in.

I thought I'd feel more strongly about this, but it's just a "hey that's neat" thing.

I suppose I could set an auxilliary goal of 2250 miles and try to hit that before year's end, though?

Any fans of Chain-L N°5 chain lube out there? It seems the product is not available anymore and the website is gone.

Chain-L was so good I have lubed all my bicyles from a single small 4oz/100ml-bottle over the last 15 years. Capitalism kill products this economical.

As my bottle is nearly empty I wonder: What are Chain-L users using now instead?

(Please don't suggest waxing, thank you, that's a different camp)
