My method for creating fictional world maps:
1) go for a walk after rain
2) take photos of drying spots on the sidewalk
3) draw over them ✨

The Wired City

Located east of the country, this city (commonly called the Blue Roof City for its iconic tiles) is quiet and unremarkable for the untrained eye. Except maybe for the proximity of the mountain in the north and the eastern sea. But beyond its mondaine appearance lies a lot of interesting places, and I would like to show you :)

For this Inktober I decided to take you on a little tour of the city that is the backdrop of most of my illustrations!

The illustrations will be quick and mostly without reference, but I hope you’ll enjoy your visit this month!

My son's becoming a true master with #WorldPainter & #WorldMachine and has been creating some stunning and super detailed landscapes (not just alpines ones) for #Minecraft/Ardacraft/Conquest Reforged... Btw. He's also accepting commissions, wink, wink...

I'm Monzz, she/her. I've lived all around but I'm based in the #UK now.

By day, I work in computer science #education. After hours, I'm a massive #gamer (ask me what I'm playing at the moment), I'm a #scifi / #fantasy #worldbuilding nerd and I do a bit of #writing.

I love my #houseplants and #gadgets.

How influential is religion in your world? How influential would it like to be?

Percentage of population absolutely certain God exists. Comparing USA to Europe. Most of Europe is in yellow, indicating a 10-29% certainty, A few places like Portugal and Poland are up into the 30-49% band. In the US most of it is in the purple 50-69% range with the bible belt, unsurprisingly, registering blue, 70-82%. Interesting that 82% is the highest ratio, and 10% is the lowest in either category.

If I was to organize a big #solarpunk #illustration #contest focused more on #worldbuilding than art mastery, which organizations should I reach out to for legitimacy and reach?

Assume that prizes / funding could be organized externally / we have sponsors.

I know that we already had some art-community-organized Solarpunk events, like French Week and Art (2024), Yishan Wong's (2021), Atomhawk (2019).

When describing the big things in your world, also remember to include the kind of small, human details that will make it feel real. Graffiti. A drunk's pool of vomit. The safety card in the back of the seat.
