This tiny boxwood peapod (10 cm) was carved in c. 1500 by a North German artist. It opens to reveal little peas, and then those peas open to reveal ten little carved scenes from Genesis. Now housed at the Museum of Decorative Arts in Berlin

Ça faisait 2-3 semaines que je bidouillais cet oiseau, et je pense qu'il est enfin terminé. J'ai dû m'y reprendre à deux fois pour les ailes, à un moment j'ai cru que c'était fichu. J'ai hésité à le mettre en couleur, puis j'ai hésité entre aquarelle et crayon de couleur, puis il était plus temps d'hésiter, c'était fait.

Well it's done. So many hours gone. It's been the bane of my life for the last two weeks. So many broken branches! Hand carved from boxwood (bird and leaves) walnut (branches) and oak (scrolls).
