I have a lot of insight as to what it's like to be homeless in this country because I was for four years due to mental health issues, addiction as a result, as well as from an accident where I nearly died.
It's absolute hell, and the resources are pathetic. "Just get a job!" Many say; being homeless is harder than any job you will EVER fucking do.
It's about to get worse because of Trump's plans for support systems the poor need.
We should be ashamed.
I wonder what Republicans have planned for the massive wave of homeless people they are probably going to generate when they start gutting things like medicare.
A whole lot of people need medicine to function normally and work. I am one of these people.
If I have no insurance I cannot afford the medications I need to take.
Then I no longer have access to the housing I once had because I need insurance for it.
I won't be the only one.

Hey Americans!
I've been working on a project dissecting Project 2025 chapter by chapter. As we head into 2025, the year Trump will actually take control of the US government, reading it gets more important. If you don't want to read all 900+ pages of it, you can check out my project at https://32daysofproject2025.wordpress.com.

Doublespeak.

The #SCOTUS ruling on #TikTok was really unfortunate because it was based on the justices not understanding the technology, the facts of the situation.
You could see in the oral arguments that they didn't understand how the platform was engineered, they got multiple things very wrong about it. And that's really a shame.
The role of the Supreme Court in the US is to interpret laws and review lower court rulings, but in this case the issue wasn't either of those, it was a matter of fact that they struggled with, not law.
This legal proceeding was rushed. The two sides did not have time to hammer out their factual disagreement through the normal course of the normal process. And so when it got to the Supreme Court, the Court was presented with a record with inconsistencies.
And this is why we should never try to rush these legal processes.
The justices seemed to think that a shutdown wasn't even on the table. Well, the platform shut down. The justices were proven wrong. Unfortunately, as far as I know there is no procedure for the Court to fix a factual error like this. We are stuck with this ruling until who knows when some future case might provide the opportunity to fix it.
It's legally tragic.
I’m not sure people quite grasp how much of the crypto world is reacting to the Trump memecoin launches.
What could contribute more to government efficiency than securing lucrative contracts for your crypto donors to implement inefficient technology that is uniquely suited to solving problems you don’t have?
The people who are now in charge of the Office of Personnel Management apparently don’t know how to scrub PDF metadata, and have exposed the original authors of the guidance they’re publishing. Two have links to the Heritage Foundation and its Project 2025.
Noah Peters is the author of the OPM Acting Director Charles Ezell’s January 27 memo (archive) providing guidance on the “Restoring Accountability To Policy-Influencing Positions Within the Federal Workforce” executive order, which is being described as the “Schedule F” order because it effectively reinstates that policy under a new name (“Schedule Policy/Career”). Peters also authored the January 20 memo (archive) from Ezell, which exploits loopholes to bypass limits on political appointments. Both of these memos are clear steps towards achieving a primary goal of Project 2025: to expand President Trump’s power, and to replace career civil servants with Trump loyalists.
As far back as 2023, The Heritage Foundation’s Project 2025 was recommending Peters for a position in Trump’s second administration. Peters had previously been appointed by Trump in 2019 as the Solicitor at the Federal Labor Relations Authority, where he “aided and defended Trump appointees’ anti-union FLRA policies that went against decades of the agency’s own precedents” according to Court Accountability Action and State Democracy Defenders Action.4 Peters returned to private practice in 2022, but recently quietly updated his LinkedIn profile to reflect a new title of “Senior Advisor” to the Office of Personnel Management. This appointment does not appear to have been announced anywhere else.

"They want to destroy the federal government," Gov. Tim Walz on #Maddow tonight, responding to this week's events in Trump's administration.
That is:
- Freezing government funding
- Threatening to fire the entire federal workforce
- Firing NLRB and EEOC staff
- Firing 12 Inspectors General
These are attacks on the Constitutional order. Most of us did not vote for the dismantling of the entire government.
Support legal defense funds if you are able.
I know that the federal employees that are on Reddit aren't necessarily representative of the entire federal workforce.
But damn, I am loving the "I will die at my desk, you fascist fucks" vibe in response to the quit-or-get-fired offer.
