March 31 was already significant to me because that's the day in 1998 when I helped #Netscape Navigator become #OpenSource.
Now this day has a whole new meaning for me as a #transgender woman. And it's my first #TransDayOfVisibility that I celebrate publicly since coming out to everyone on June 21 of last year.
To all my #trans siblings, I see you. Even if complete visibility isn't possible for you right now. You still matter. You're still loved. And you're still trans. Never doubt that. 🏳️⚧️🫂💖

This will be a long post so bear with me.
So there’s a secret I have been carrying around all my life. It’s something that I realized when I was young and as the years went on it became clearer and clearer. But because I was raised in a deeply religious and bigoted family I kept that secret buried deep inside. Keeping it buried has done a number on my mental health over the years. Depression is something that has remained a constant in my life. But I soldiered on and continued living a lie.
I’m sure by now you’re either figured it out or are wondering what this secret is. So let me just go ahead and say it…I’m #trans. I’ve battled gender dysphoria all my life. I cosplayed as a man and engaged in hobbies and pursuits that were super masculine to hide the fact that inside was this woman screaming to get out. I got married, became a father, and continued pretending. But the dysphoria continued and depression took its toll on both my health and marriage.
Fast forward to last week. While chatting with my Big Sister Wren this secret could not stay buried any longer and my egg cracked. I told her I was trans. All at once a huge weight was lifted off my chest. I cried. She cried. And my world changed.
So here I am…Applefangirl. Hopefully those that follow me will continue to do so and support me over the next few years as I begin this transition journey. So this is my last post on this account (and it will be my pinned post on my new account). Love you all! 🩷

We've been thinking more about voice training.
We don't find it fun: it's a painful chore.
We can't do it if being perceived in person.
We find the exercises too much like singing lessons (which are triggering) and cringe.
We cannot stick
We do, however, like poorly attending other accents (mostly English regional accents) and find it actively fun.
Anyone managed to voice train not via daily, boring, abstract exercises, but rather fun voice activities that don't feel embarrassing to do around others and which actually spark joy?

5 years ago today I placed a needle against my thigh, whispered a small prayer, and pushed down the plunger. It’s been a wild ride since, but I’ve never regretted that decision for a moment.
To anyone facing their own leap of faith: make the jump. You’re worth it, and it’s never too late.
Lynn Conway was remarkable in a number of ways but I think the reason her death hits me so hard even though I didn’t know her personally is the most unremarkable thing about her: One of us got to live her life quietly, grow old, and be remembered fondly as herself in death.
I think that’s all I really want.

Despite following almost 650 people over the last few years, my timeline feels increasingly empty and stale lately, a ghost town compared to a year ago or more, and I'm looking at refreshing things a bit. A lot of people have left the platform or are (understandably) afraid to post so much, especially due to the chilling effect of rising #fascism. But I'm still here, still posting.
