A recent photo of my sketchbook, still training with ballpoint pen directly, a cruel training. But I am beginning to get a better ability to imagine perspective grids without tracing them, and I can even begin to plan full-page compositions. It takes a while to build these new skills, but they are worth it.

Colored pencil sketch playing with color on toned paper! This medium requires a lot of patience and tons of layers of colors. Was a challenge to make the colors pop with the toned grey paper, I was going for a luminous look!

Just unveiled a new black sketchbook and have begun an experimental artistic journey. Excited to see where this takes me! 🖤🎨 #AliceInWonderland #sketchbook

The first page, a rabbit depicted in contrasted shadows looking at the camera. Title: Follow the White Rabbit.

Second page: Alice, backview, running after the white rabbit.

Third double page, Alice falling in the rabbit hole (with symbolism of wormholes in wireframe and melted clocks)

Fourth double page, Alice in the hall after she grew too much and started to cry. The glass table with the potion "drink me" and the cake "eat me" (and the key) floats. A tiny door is visible also.

Graphite on dot paper. It was, you guessed it, another boring work meeting. An artist friend of mine had mentioned at one point that drawing parallel lines can be very meditative, so I gave it a try. I have mixed feelings about the eye.

Decided to make my art focus on useful plants for a while, brushing up on several skills to see if I can pull together something both useful and pretty. Need to brush up on my fonts, but not until I finish sketching the pollinator garden.

Sketch of a salsify plant, flower, and seed and a sketch of a maple seedling, alongside text that reads, "Been living off the land a little more this week, gathered a table with several samples to sketch while I listen to nature sounds from the Ozarks. Found and positively identified salsify, one of those veggies we loved back in ye olde days of yore. Collected a sample to take home and sketch, then I cut the greenery off and planted the root before the rains begin. I also gathered seed, planted some, and will save the rest. Might try indoors soon. Bolted stalks were easy to spot above the grass, was glad I went when I did, it was next to a field that was recently mowed, their field was probably next. Found a bunch of maple seedlings, washed them with vinegar and gave to the birds, weaving between the bars of the cage. Made me realize I could grow maple and elm indoors for the birds. Seedlings gently pulled up are doing okay in water, also planted samara.

Sketch of an ash branch, noting it's a safe wood for pets, but not as tasty as elm samara. (Elm samara are round, ash is long) Samara means winged seed. Notes that I'm practicing my landscape in a trailer park, doodle of one of our streets with a kid's bike laying down, a focus on sketching trees at various distances.

Some of the best drawings I did in the last months. This was presented at the end-of-semester exhibition of my school. It was my first exhibition; a little overwhelming & not everything went as planned, but now it's done and I'm happy :)
