on a grey day, a rose in a colour i'm not sure i can describe. it's purple-pink-mauve; the tips of the petals are more white, and the petals lower down are more purple. they turn almost lilac as they age. there are green leaves around and below it and mottled grey stone behind.

This is a photo of a very interesting and mildly sketchy-looking pedestrian walkway crossing over a very wide freeway taken at dusk on a cold evening with very dramatic lighting and some overhead lights. The concrete footpath has two layers of railings on either side. The first (and likely original) is a standard iron railing about shoulder-height. The second outer layer is a chain link wrapping that curls up and over the first railing and continues up and over head to almost meet in the center—leaving a small 9 inch gap along the center. (Visually this looks so striking along with the repeating posts from each protective barrier going off into the distance.) Some enterprising graffiti artist has tagged the walking path immediately in front of us in an artful cursive scribble that adds to the vanishing point. There are a few lights on posts suspended high over the bridge, which intersect with the different elements as well, adding to the geometry. Through the chain link we see many levels of freeway lanes with cars traveling both directions and rows of San Franciscan homes on a hill in the distance under a cloudless pale-blue-to-white gradient sky. Finally, the whole scene is framed in a dark border with film negative markings.

A neolithic henge with a stone circle surrounded by earthworks and a ditch. It has a fantastic atmosphere but not a single stone is standing - it looks like there was some kind of giant domino run. The individual monoliths are also more holes than stones with only their memories of being standing stones holding them together.
