The Little White Rose
(To John Gawsworth)
The rose of all the world is not for me.

Only the little white rose of Scotland
That smells sharp and sweet—and breaks the heart.

I'm slowly starting to share more images from my multi-year project "This Land Remembers", an odyssey into the last remaining ancient native woodlands of Scotland (like this one from a brilliant Autumn morning in 2025). I also have an upcoming exhibition at Gallery Photiq this April/May featuring 12 prints from the project, including this image.
Hey, Glasgow-local people, want to do an experiment? Come into my lab and have your eyes tracked while I study how you process sound and syntax, predict meaning, and encode memory!
One hour, and I pay £15 cash in hand.
Boosts welcome (especially people on Glasgow/Scotland-related servers!)

“Not your typical social issue film, this documentary utilizes a touch of humor & a wide diversity of perspectives to call upon people to stand up for their neighbors. In a time when xenophobia & authoritarianism are on the rise, the power of collective action here is a global rallying cry”

I believe in democracy, real democracy, not democracy skewed in favour of the rich and powerful who, to say the least, have questionable motives. I believe that wealth and opportunities should be shared more equally, promoting cooperation and social cohesion. I believe that society should be measured by how well we look after those near the bottom of the heap. I believe that we can have these things with independence. A Scottish socialist republic would be a country to be proud of.

Beauty In Simplicity

I love the simplicity of this small stone building on the Isle of Iona, Scotland. Not sure of its purpose but it's easy to find between the nunnery ruins and the village hall.
