You know what happens when you haven't released a piece of software in awhile? You have to nearly immediately release a bug fix version!
So without further ado, we've released Pidgin 2.90.1 to fix some bugs in Pidgin 3.0 Experimental 1 that was released yesterday.
This release fixes a crash when reconnect an IRC account that had a connection error and makes SASL PLAIN work properly.

Eigentlich nutzt #WhatsApp doch das ganz bekannte und eigentlich offne #XMPP Protokoll. War im Herbst nicht mal die Rede davon, dass WhatsApp nicht Schnittstellen schaffen muss, um Chats auch mit anderen Clients zu ermöglichen? Habe es eben getestet und habe nur #Birdychat gefunden. Sehr ernüchternt. Mal sehen ob das mal besser wird. .. und vielleicht auch wirklich offen, dass ich mein geliebtes #Pidgin für #Jabber wieder dafür nutzen kann. Offen für alles.

I (@grimmy) am going to state this as clearly as possible here in the hopes it'll propagate quickly.
#Pidgin, and the other projects we maintain alongside it, have never and will never knowingly accept AI-assisted anything.
We proudly respect all licenses, #OpenSource and proprietary, and will not taint our license with whatever you think AI-generated code is licensed under.
A more formal document is now in the works in the hopes that our precious volunteer time will be spared.
I will never understand how the project that respected licenses and trademarks so much that they forked the entire #Mozilla stack to comply ever decided that #AI usage could ever be considered ethical.
I have many machines that are somehow related to @pidgin's development and the vast majority of them run #debian. To keep #AI out of #Pidgin, I now I need to find a new distribution. This is yet another example of me having to pay into the #AI time deficit. 🙄
