Had a day off work to take my son to an interview in a village just south of Nottingham (UK). Had 3 hours to kill while he was doing his thing, so popped into Attenborough Nature Reserve (WLT) on a Grey old morning.

Tens of thousands migrate this time of year all the way from Russia in an organized chaos, it is a miracle that they don’t collide.
We drove to Fir Island to see them over one weekend, found them just outside of Conway. They move around a lot, so we were lucky to see them.

A sunny week & the fig tree is in full bloom 💐

No, those aren’t fruit – they’re flowers. Or more properly, syconia, large numbers of inverted flowers in a green outer layer 🙃

Waiting to be pollinated by tiny fig wasps that crawl inside, then living, reproducing, & in many cases, dying there 🐝

Figs are weird 😬

As for the little fig leaves, well, they remind me of the narcissistic sociopaths who’re trying to destroy the world to make up for their inadequacies 🤷‍♂️
