This is a photo looking upward at the trajectory of a mature tree. It has a thick trunk with many branches curving outward and then upward. Found this intimate scenery on our recent roundtrip along Hwy 2 in Washington state with a large rock sitting in a calm creek, perfectly mirrored by its reflection along with the surrounding leaves in vibrant autumn colors adding warmth to the scene.

A dense cluster of fungi growing on a rotting tree stump in a forest during autumn. The mushrooms are growing in layered, overlapping groups. Their caps vary in color, transitioning from a light yellowish-tan or golden-brown at the edges and in the center of the younger, upper mushrooms, to a darker, rich brown in the larger, more mature specimens below.

Many caps exhibit a slight concentric ring pattern or a change in color towards the center. They have a generally convex to flattened shape and appear smooth and somewhat moist or velvety.

The fungi are attached to a dark, textured wood surface, which is the tree material they are feeding on. The surrounding area is the forest floor, scattered with leaf litter in various shades of brown and yellow.
