A hollow log was put horizontally as a spout for a natural spring in the forest, the water cascades out of it in a thin drizzle. The log is covered with a colony of brown-gold colored mushrooms with a flat cap. On both sides of the spring, the ground is covered in lush vegetation

Sometimes when we’re sitting at the kitchen table and Jasper is there hanging out in one of the chairs with us, as he often does, he’ll just reach out and sink his claws into the nearest leg. Which makes that person scream. Which then makes Jasper scream. Soon the entire household is screaming.🙀

For three days now this female #cardinal has been attacking our windows. Not full on slamming against the windows in a way that would hurt it - just walking back & forth at the bottom, tapping its beak, and then flying up to the top fluttering and dropping back down. Over and over. I read that this is not that unusual, a response to seeing its reflection as a competitor/intruder. It’s a bit unnerving but not sure how to get it to stop.

📸 So yesterday, there was a severe air quality warning and a severe heat warning, and then, at dusk, a line of severe thunderstorms moved through.

I looked out and everything had that bizarre pre-storm yellowish look to it, so I walked outside and saw this when I looked up.

Quite dramatic, horizontal orientation, photo of the sky at dusk the clouds in the center are a golden orange color however some of the orange is blocked by various earing, dark clouds. I can't believe it's September. Where we are in New Mexico, the feel in the air is changing. It was 48 in the morning yesterday. While Autumn is my favorite season, not sure I am ready for what comes after. But for now, I will cherish the beautiful colors of Falls. Do you have a favorite season?

This is the 2nd summer for my purple coneflowers. Last year it was about a 1/3 the size and this year is has already put on more blooms than all of last year.

Purple coneflower is a favorite of mine and a friend was kind enough to let me pull some out of his garden two years ago. That's my favorite way to garden: cheap/free and an early reward 👍.
