This #painting is by distinguished Belizean artist Pen Cayetano. His work often depicts #Garifuna culture. Here, women are shown processing cassava, their staple food. Cayetano is also the inventor or Punta Rock music. It was an honor to meet him and his wife Ingrid on our travels to #Belize.

A colorful painting (I believe acrylic) on canvas depicting two women sitting underneath a tree, one resting with her hands clasped in her lap, the other busy processing cassava. There is a small wood structure behind them. The background features a vibrant and tropical natural setting with trees and other figures in the distance, engaged in various activities. The overall style is expressive and lively. The painting is about 24” long and 16” wide. I wanted a larger one, but this is the one I could afford.

Galaxy Gazing

I recent learned that because we are at the edge of our Milky Way galaxy, the view of night sky in the northern hemisphere shows both arms of our spiral galaxy. I tried to capture that in this painting.

Painted on 8” square paper including a narrow blue border.
