O-ringen is in town. Or better around town. An orienteering competition with 5 stages over 6 days with around 13000 runners participating on each stage. From elites (like Tove Alexandersson also known in the trail running world) to regular athletes. It is the UTMB of orienteering. There is a temporary campground as well with 2000 spots for tents and campers. Apart from regular orienteering also MTB orienteering is done as well as precision orienteering. I might go a watch the elite sprint in the central city tomorrow or the regular stage 3 in the city park on Thursday. During my trail run today I came across the MTB orienteering bikers.
The competition has been around since 1960s and winning it is a prestigious as winning UTMB.
