Just a couple of photos this evening, both from my garden about 30 mins ago.
This is the second, 1 of 20 odd Starlings that regularly pop in to hoover up the mealworm for their chicks

Neither one had a searchlight, or one of those million-watt flashlights that run out of battery power after an hour or so.
They just had candles, small flames of golden glow that didn't command the attention of the surrounding countryside and beyond, but did provide enough light for their needs.
A small light, in the right place, illuminates.

May the artwork take you to an extraordinarily pleasant meadow, one in which you wander about freely, with total abandon, as if you were a child discovering a most magical place.

It was not a landscape through which you could quickly move, power walk over, run across, rush past.
But then again, it was not a landscape that you wanted to spend little time in. It invited -- nay, demanded, in a friendly, open fashion -- you to linger.
"Must you," it murmured, "always be in a hurry?"

Imagine a device that is able to convert sunlight into storable energy. A device capable of transforming CO² into oxygen and sugar without external power supply. A device that is non-polluting and human friendly. That keeps cool & fresh while working. That is self reproducing. That doesn't cost a cent to make. That is biodegradable & offers habitats & food to many species.
It's not science fiction.
That wonderful visionary device exists.
My birdbath garden at mom's old cottage. Bumblebees loved the globe thistle, fritillary butterflies swarmed the coneflowers, and the red bee-balm was guaranteed to draw ruby-throat hummingbirds. There's a serviceberry tree to the left of the glider and a witch hazel tree in the border behind it. A mail-order ginseng plant liked this location and reseeded itself. Photo by my mom.
Went out today with the sole intention of photographing Goslings and Ducklings. So there may be a few fluffy bundles in my timeline today.
This is a Graylag Gosling, I was so close I had to remove the tele-convertor I usually use

Possibly the weirdest planet yet discovered?
Newfound world 2M1510 (AB) b appears to orbit not one but two stars...and they are actually failed stars, known as brown dwarfs...and the planet orbits sideways, in a unique up-and-down polar orbit.

Hey all, this is my last photo from our visit of the Wildpark Poing. There are quite some Peacocks around freely. And one of them came rather close and -after a bit of waiting- gave quite a show.
It was not just interesting to see (never saw a peacock coming so close), but also from the photography aspect: How could I get a photo that highlights the animal and feathers but doesn't include a lot of background-clutter or other distractions.

Today we found a Blanding's Turtle, with a bright yellow chin and throat. Very considerate of her to look sideways so I was able to ID her.
It's a rare and endangered species.
