I have a playlist on Soundcloud of my own original rock music and I’d love for you to check it out, preferably on some good speakers, up loud. I’m really proud of this, and would love to hear what you think.
If you have “I like music” in your profile, you must listen. It’s the law!! 🫶
Boosts very much appreciated! 🤗

⚡ KARMA SHEEN
Karma Sheen, a London-based band, merges Hindustani Classical music, 60s-inspired rock, and Sufi lyricism to create a captivating fusion of tradition and innovation 👀
👉 Led by Sameer Khan, who hails from a 600-year-old lineage of musicians in Pakistan, the group bridges the gap between cultural heritage and contemporary sounds. Their music is rooted in Hindustani classical forms while embracing the retro aesthetics of neo-psychedelia, resulting in a sound that feels both timeless and cutting-edge.

The Battle of Prestonpans was fought #OTD, 21 September 1745. The first major engagement in the Jacobite rebellion, Prestonpans was a stunning victory for the (mostly Highland) troops under Charles Edward Stuart. The song “Johnnie Cope”, composed very shortly afterwards, probably by Adam Skirving, exists in numerous versions & arrangements – including one by Beethoven – but it is originally a pipe tune.

Since algorithms and AI don't listen to music, I don't let them choose my music. This episode of Frequently Alternative is hand picked by a real dj who likes Jesus Jones, Marillion and Indigo Girls. Try it out on Mixcloud and let me know what else you'd like to hear.

Beyoncé has millions of fans the world over, and she can add a massive admirer to the list — Sir Paul McCartney. The former Beatles frontman says Beyoncé's cover of “Blackbird” reinforces the song’s civil rights message, “and would urge anyone who has not heard it yet to check it out.” Read more from Entertainment Weekly: https://flip.it/DhfrOf

#art #history: in 1939, billie holiday - born eleanora fagan on this day in 1915 - threw a punch with the release of her recording of 'strange fruit' - &, if she'd not persisted, it may not have been released until much later. columbia refused, at first (‘they won’t buy it in the south’), to let billie include it even though it had been a central & permanent pillar of her repertoire during her tenure at cafe society.

According to Vox, it's impossible to be neutral on Taylor Swift because the discourse surrounding her is so pervasive. We've added to the chatter by curating a @Flipboard Storyboard about the arrival of her 11th studio album, "Tortured Poets Department," and we also want to know: How do you feel about Swift?
