Irgendwer Tipps für Backup mit #Mint?
Ich hab für Windows einerseits ein Datei-Backup gemacht, das automatisch alle halbe Stunde oder so auf Stick gesichert hat. Andererseits habe ich eine Toshiba Platte, auf der ich ein komplettes System Backup alle Jubeljahre neu gemacht habe. Beides habe ich nicht gefunden bisher für Mint, auch das in der Computerwoche beschriebene gibt es glaube ich nicht her.

Freed a chromebook (Acer 14 CB3-431) from Google. Got it used for 65€. Still has the power for 5 hours of movie (full hd/h265) or 6-7 hours of working with LibreOffice.

#0ad is possibly one of the most advanced #foss games. It's a multi-platform #RTS historical #game, and there's currently an appimage for #Linux users found at #github (in case #flatpak isn't to your liking).
Plays really smoothly, although it eats my 2015's #Macbook Air's battery (running Linux #Mint) for lunch. We're talking that it has about 30 minutes of overall #gameplay before I need to recharge. CPU utilization is at about 50-60%. @play0ad

Fediversers do meu coração, preciso de ajuda.
Tem um tempinho que falei por aqui que ia aproveitar o Windows estar cagando meu note e prometendo cagar ainda mais pra migrar pro Linux.
Seguindo recomendações de vocês, estava entre o Zorin e Mint, mas fiquei com o Ubuntu verde mesmo.
Porém instalei o Stremio e ele funcionou por um tempo, depois a maioria dos add-ons de torrent sumiram (só no Mint, no Android logado na mesma conta não) e agora qualquer torrent que eu tente assistir dá 'Failed to fetch'.
Alguém tem ideia do que está acontecendo e como posso resolver?

Seems like #Linux has seen some significant (300%) growth since 2021. In that time, I've gone from using just #Windows + #ChromeOS to now running Linux (#Mint + #Ubuntu Cinnamon) my laptops.

I didn't do any Linux distro hopping, I'm only a recent #Mint user. I think Mint is said to work out of the box because you don't need to configure audio, sound, Bluetooth, connectivity by yourself. It will work. Hence, I think people describing Mint as too easy is just an over exaggeration. Because once you need to have relevant apps, programming and softwares, you'll start tinkering and troubleshooting. I have no expertise, but I'd assume as any other easy or hard distro out there.
Running the live environment of the latest release of #Linux #Mint 7 #LMDE on my trusty old #Lenovo #M72E and it's just.. working. This tiny thin client with a CPU from 2013 and a whopping 8GB of RAM (I've got RAM, get me!) is just happily running a modern 64-bit environment.
Of course I'm sure that browsing the web, especially with multiple tabs open and in-memory, will quickly push it to/over its limits, but likewise, with some smart software choices and a more focused mindset, this could totally work fine for various use-cases.
My use-case is primarily that I'm running Windows XP (which it natively supports, yay for me!) on it as a light-weight setup that gets me to enjoy the last good version of Windows. Some say it's 7. I'd probably have to reluctantly agree on technical levels, but XP is where it's at for me. This, in part, because XP was also the last version of Windows I actively used, before switching fully to OS X — and Linux after that, of course.
I'm in the live environment as I wanted to dd the SSD with the current XP-and-7 installation before making some changes to it. It's easier to do that within Linux, but also because just wanted to see how Mint feels on this hardware. I left enough space on the internal SSD available, thinking I might actually want to put Linux on there too.
It's certainly lovely to see such a modern OS running on such "outdated" hardware. Maybe especially so because it's connected to a CRT monitor 😄.
