Hello #Mastodon Je relaie l’appel à l’aide de Willy anti-gaspi, épicerie anti-gaspillage en ligne qui traverse une période difficile : après un fort succès en début d’année, les commandes ont baissé et l’entreprise risque de fermer. Les fondateurs demandent de l’aide.

Dans cette épicerie, il y a plein de produits à sauver de la poubelle, du bio, parfois encore consommables 6 mois 1 an (ce qui n’est pas assez pour la grande distribution).

Trying to find more information on how the under-15 social media ban in France impacts Mastodon/fediverse servers, and while I can't see anything too concrete on that, I did come across this 2024 The Guardian article:

"The report said a 15-year-old should be able to access only what it called “ethical” social media, such as Mastodon."

The #ManfredApp is now also available for #Android. Manfred is a cross-platform #MastodonClient which was initially published for #iOS and as a desktop app for #macOS. For now it is free.

It features:

Der Osten ist dabei kein Themenzwang, sondern der gemeinsame Nenner. Schreibt, worüber ihr wollt. Alltag, Arbeit, Musik, Politik, Katzen, Memes. Ostgeschichten und alte Erinnerungen gern, Zukunftspläne genauso, aber nichts davon muss.

Warum noch eine Instanz: Weil eine Handvoll Konzerne bestimmt, was wir sehen und sagen dürfen und ihre Eigentümer sich offen zu faschistischen Projekten bekennen. Das Fediverse ist anders gebaut. Viele kleine, unabhängige Server, die miteinander reden, ohne Konzern und ohne Algorithmus, der einem die Zeit stiehlt. Das Internet wieder ein Stück weit in viele Hände zu legen, finde ich wichtig.

Der Server steht in Deutschland, läuft ehrenamtlich und hält sich an den Mastodon Server Covenant. Anmelden kann sich jede und jeder, jeder Account wird von Hand freigegeben.

I just adjusted my relay instance which now also finally supports #GoToSocial! Of course, it also supports Pleroma, snac, Mastodon, littlefedi, starling and many other ones!

With relays, your own posted content gets distributed to all connected instances, as well you get the content all other instances. Currently, mostly tech related instances are connected, focusing on #Linux, #Proxmox, #BSD / #FreeBSD, #IPv6 and many other things!

What would happen to your timeline if mastodon.social went away?

(Reposting my tool that helps you figure this out.)

mastodon.social is the biggest server on the #fediverse , with over 21% of accounts, and an even higher percentage of #Mastodon accounts.

But what does that mean to you, personally? Let's say it went away tomorrow - (assuming you aren't on it yourself), how much of your timeline would vanish?

In my case, it turns out - not a lot, actually! The biggest sources of posts that I see are (1) a very small instance that doesn't even federate with much of the Fediverse, but many of my friends are there, (2) my own instance, (3) a large tech-focused instance that is still much smaller than mastodon.social. The big guy is only 5% of the post I've seen recently.

But this might be different for you!

Find out for yourself at https://moderation-explorer.online/ . Use 'advanced mode' to see this analysis, since you need to log into see your actual feed.

You might even decide to try moving to an instance that you're more connected to?

(It's explained more on the site, but all the work happens in your browser, I don't see your identity, auth tokens, posts that get loaded, none of it.)
