Police have arrested a man for handing out face shields to protesters in LA (I’ve also seen reports that he may have been distributing masks)
Why is this a crime? Why is providing PPE to people who are being hit with chemical munitions and rubber bullets an offence?
This is bleak.
Once again this ties back to disability rights.
If more people would help normalize masks; they wouldn’t have such an easy time vilifying them
Ironically these protests are going to lead to more disability, at least in part because police are making it impossible for people to protect themselves.

Not since the 1992 riots in that same city has the country seen such a use of the armed services. But that was a one-off. The more relevant, & worrying, parallel may be the period from 1957 to the end of 1968, when military forces actively patrolled US soil on 8 separate occasions.

Every Wednesday, PJ and I walk past the Home Depot on Sunset here in Hollywood, greeting the folks standing outside, looking for work or selling food. To the point where we recognize many of them, and they recognize us.
ICE raided our Home Depot this morning.
A bunch of bullies, a waste of money, and a waste of time, to fill arbitrary quotas to appease white nationalists like Stephen Miller. I feel less safe with ICE running around, not more safe.

So an alliance of 20+ tow truck operators have come together in #LosAngeles. They’re having people follow ICE vehicles around, actively reporting their locations.
As soon as ICE parks their car ANYWHERE, usually improperly… the tow trucks quickly swoop in, tag the ICE vehicle for illegal parking, and tow their cars away as quickly as possible. LAPD is letting it happen, unchallenged.
They’re estimating over 30+ ICE vehicles being towed in the last week alone.
