#notesArt #mastoArt #art #illustration #inktober day 11: sting

A tall, thin skyscraper stands against a bright yellow sky. This is not the most inspiring of skyscrapers: drab-colored and skinny, with only one blue window at the top right. Pits, scars, and patches line its sides. The biggest scar, however, is being actively created by a large woodpecker-like bird perched on the left side of the building. The bird is pecking a giant gouge into the building's corner. The bird is mostly dark, with an iridescent green stomach, a red-tinged tail, and a red plume on top of its head. In the top left of the sky is a round white sun. The painting is signed "Chris Silverman".

#notesArt #mastoArt #art #illustration #inktober day 9: heavy

A small figure wearing a suit and tie hoists a giant iron ball that's nearly as tall as it is over its head. However, it doesn't have a head, so the ball is where its head would be. Its right leg is chained to the ball. Perched on top of the ball is a black bird with a long tail. The ball itself is scratched and dented. The figure stands in a pale green space devoid of anything else. The painting is signed "Chris Silverman".

A dark, dingy book the size of a multi-story building stands in the middle of a drab gray meadow under a blue-green early evening sky. The book has a doorway without a door, and an upper-story window without glass, and looks like an abandoned building. A few faded graffiti tags are next to the door. Yellow tape is stretched across the doorway. In the window, a dim, ghostly figure can be seen. Two birds are in the sky. The painting is signed "Chris Silverman".

A very tall, J-shaped creature that looks a little like something between a chicken and an ostrich. It has two spindly legs, an explosion of feathers sticking up from the back, and a very tall neck. However, it also has two small arms higher up on its neck. It is mostly a black silhouette framed against a dark blue sky, with one bright white eye visible.

#notesArt #mastoArt #art #illustration #inktober day 10: sweep

A person wearing a flowing black cloak, a long purple dress, and a golden crown stands in a gray room in front of a huge circular radar display. The radar display has a heavy gold frame and several pipes leading up to the ceiling. On screen, the glowing green beam has just swept past eight white-green dots. The scene looks very much like the wicked queen from Snow White gazing into the mirror, except she's holding an iPhone. In the background are four tall, white, blurry windows. The painting is signed "Chris Silverman".

With the UK #elections coming up, politicians are in full spin (lie) mode. Consequently, misinformation, and its evil twin, disinformation, are rife online.
To save me having to point out each and every time an untrue claim is made, I've created my own lttle response graphic.

A huge pipe, grayish liquid pouring out of it. The pipe is above the ground, propped up by a thin wooden support. Beneath the pipe, on what looks like a small promontory, sits a horned figure with a pointed tail, tossing a wine bottle away into the valley. In the distance is the blurry suggestion of a forested mountain. A dim sun hangs high in the sky, birds, circling around. This is a mostly dull, orange drawing; the color of a hot, muggy day in a polluted place.

A gray, mostly cloudy winter night. The large black-and-gold hulk of a ship sits in Boston harbor under a dim white crescent moon. On deck, several dark figures are having a tea party, at least in the historical sense: they are hurling large wooden crates of cargo into the water. Spray-painted on the hull of the ship is a more contemporary symbol: a rudimentary sketch of a crown in white paint, with a red X over it. Fog hovers over the water. In the distance, the gray outline of Boston is visible, punctuated by a few yellow lights. The painting is signed “Chris Silverman”.

It's early morning or early evening. The sky is an indigo blue. A small rocket takes off from a simple launchpad, blasting into the air and leaving a towering inferno on the ground. The problem is that the rocket has launched at an angle, bouncing off the support structure to the left of it before seemingly regaining its trajectory and heading for space. The support structure has two small, pale, white lights on it and is slightly faded towards the top, suggesting fog. On the side of the rocket is a single round portal, revealing a figure silhouetted in greenish light.
